Dr. S. M. Bejan Singh — Founder & Medical Director

After finishing his masters in Ophthalmology, Dr. Bejan Singh was awarded the Rtn Dr. P. N. Srinivasa Rao award for Best Outgoing Student. He worked as a lecturer at Kasturba Medical College and Assistant Surgeon at the OEU Institute of Ophthalmology, Manipal, before joining Neyyoor C.S.I. Mission Hospital in 1983 — a comprehensive eye-care system run by the Kanyakumari Medical Mission in partnership with Christoffel Blinden Mission, Germany, extending care to mission hospitals in Kulasekharam, Marthandam and Karakkonam.

In 1987 he trained at the Upson Eye Clinic, USA, in cataract and lens-implant super-specialization. In 1992 he started his own practice in the family's ancestral home in Nagercoil, with 5 staff and 8 beds. Over the following decades that practice grew into Bejan Singh Eye Hospital's present 110-bed facility, extending eye care to neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu and southern Kerala.
